The Grand Strand of Myrtle Beach is famous for its abundance of golf courses; however, only the golfers who have played at TPC of Myrtle Beach have experienced exceptional golf. Designed by well-known golf course architects, Tom Fazio and Lanny Wadkins, it is guaranteed to be a pleasant challenge for golfers of all levels. There are five sets of tees at each of the 18 holes at TPC of Myrtle Beach. Since it course was designed for tournament play, the back tees total 6,950 yards; yet, even beginners can have a great time playing from the front-most tees totaling 5,118 yards.
The TPC of Myrtle Beach may be relished by each golfer that enters onto its greens and fairways, but they are not the only ones to notice its exquisite grounds. Golf Digest awarded TPC of Myrtle Beach 5 stars and ranked it among the Best Places to Play. The fairways are lined with trees and there is plenty of water - large lakes, small ponds, and meandering creeks - along the way. The course was created among protected natural wetlands, so the wetland areas pose a special challenge on several holes. In addition, eagles, turkeys, foxes, and deer are common onlookers throughout the par-72 course.
The natural terrain of the area surrounding TPC of Myrtle Beach can be classified as lowland; however, elevation changes are noticeable. In fact, the changes in elevation were built into the course. The fairways are narrow and encourage a straight and accurate shout. In addition, the greens are large; but, they are protected by sand and grass bunkering. In all, the course is beautiful and designed to test and to please.
Myrtle Beach is well-loved for more than its golf courses. People come from all around to splash in the ocean, relax on the miles of sandy beaches, and dine in some of the best restaurants. Sailing, boating, fishing, and taking in the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets are only a few of the many activities for visitors. Others may prefer to do some shopping and then read a good book, while watching families frolic along the shoreline. Regardless, there is something for everyone at Myrtle Beach, golfers and non-golfers alike.
At TPC of Myrtle Beach there is ample opportunity to practice and improve on one's golf game. Near the remarkable colonial-styled club house there are areas to work on the long shot, the short game, and putting. After a long hard day on the course, golfers and their friends and families can take break and have a great meal at the TPC Grill. This championship golf course is sure to put a smile on any golfer's face.
